Recent Art By Dragon Women On View At Zoë & Floyd

SEYMOUR — Zoë & Floyd art gallery, 23 Bank Street in the historic arts and antiques district of Seymour, is presenting a new exhibit, “Dragon Women: Seeing Red,” until July 31.

The exhibition, which has been in the making for more than a year, celebrates recent artworks created by each of the 12 women who comprise the “Dragon Women.” Several collaborative works of art created by two or more of the women are also be on exhibit.

A diverse group, The Dragon Women spans generations and locales. Members of the Dragon Women are Mary Bailey, Suzanne Benton, Helena Boscovic, Cecilia Fradet, Natasha Karpinskaia, Helen Kunzman, Janice Mauro, Jennifer Mazzucco, Gloria Santoyo Ruenitz, Su Tamsett, Jeannie Thomma and Yolanda Vasquez. These women have met monthly to share artwork, discuss concerns and provide creative support to one another for the past eight years.

In addition to being visual artists, these women are architects, writers, teachers, curators, entrepreneurs, mothers, daughters and grandmothers. The effect that these roles and responsibilities have upon their daily lives is evidenced in their artwork.
