Mr and Mrs Gregory Payne

Jennifer Margaret Baiad, a daughter of Mr and Mrs Anthony Baiad of Newtown, and Gregory Jon Payne, a son of Mr and Mrs Jon Payne of Charlotte, N.C., were married at St Rose of Lima Church in Newtown on June 4. The Reverend Robert Weiss officiated. A reception followed at The Candlewood Inn in Brookfield.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a Justina McCaffrey strapless silk gown that featured a fitted bodice of French lace embellished with gold thread. The gown’s dropped waist flowed into a graduated A-line ballgown completed by a chapel train. She also wore a two-tiered chapel-length veil that had a rolled gold edge and was embellished with clear crystals.

Her bouquet included gardenias, roses, sweet peas, and stephanotis with a pearl center edged in a collar of Russian netting.

Susan Baiad, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Heather Botta of Durham, N.C., a friend of the bride; Jennifer Kiely-Sullivan, from Needham, Mass., also a friend of the bride; Kristen Baiad, a sister-in-law of the bride, from Savannah, Ga.; and Nicole Swainey, from Atlanta,, sister of the groom.

The maid of honor and bridesmaids wore aqua A-line tea-length dresses with an illusion panel at the hemline. They carried handheld clutches of fuchsia peonies, fuchsia Gerbera daisies, and hot pink and orange roses.

Chad Payne, brother of the groom and a resident of Briele, Netherlands, was the best man.

Ushers were Robert Baiad of Seoul, Korea, and Todd Baiad, of Savannah, Ga., brothers of the bride; and Anthony Swainey, from Atlanta, a brother-in-law of the groom.

The bride, a Newtown High School graduate, received her bachelor’s degree in human services from Elon College, Elon, N.C. She is currently a recruiting coordinator for Microsoft in Charlotte, N.C.

The groom is a graduate of Appalachian State University, in Boone, N.C., from which he received his bachelor’s degree in business communications. He is a product manager at Hand Held Products, Inc, also in Charlotte.

Following a honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, the Paynes now reside in Charlotte.
