Traditional Maritime Folk Songs

WASHINGTON — On Tuesday, July 23, at 7 pm, in the Wykeham Room of Gunn Memorial Library, Bruce and Sandy Hedman of Tara’s Thistle will present a free program of traditional maritime folk songs. They will perform on the Irish flute, pennywhistle, bagpipe, bodhran, and guitar.

Bruce and Sandy Hedman have entertained at many locales throughout Connecticut and weave some history of the music between songs. They performed a program of Irish and Scottish folk songs this past winter at the library.

Bruce is a full-time faculty member of the University of Connecticut and Sandy is a classically trained pianist.
