Grand Prix

DARIEN – Darragh Kerins of Ireland finished off the 73rd annual Ox Ridge Charity Horse Show with a win in the $35,000 Ox Ridge Grand Prix.

Kerins, who helped lead Ireland to a third-place finish in the Samsung Nations Cup in West Palm Beach, Florida, back in March, won the Grand Prix aboard Notre Dame, one of 1,300 horses competing during the five-day show.

The Grand Prix course, designed by Anthony D’Ambrosio of Mount Kisco, New York, presented 13 fences to challenge the field. After the first-round, only five of the 28 horses competing had fault-free rides.

Kerins rode fault free with a time of 46.499 seconds, taking the lead over McLain Ward of Brewster, New York, the defending Grand Prix champion.

“Kerins has been knocking on my door the last couple of weeks,” Ward said. “He deserved to win today.”
