Historic House Tour A Success

To the Editor:

On behalf of the Newtown Historical Society, I would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to all who helped make our annual Historic House Tour an outstanding success. Matthew Schlansky and Richard Barker, David and Chris Goodwick, Sally and Ned Jones, Sharon Cohen and Jean Mathurin, Pat McCormick, Valerie Hawks and David Johnson, and Jane and C.R. Shaw who shared their beautiful vintage homes.

Without their generous volunteer time our tour would be impossible. Special thanks to The Newtown Bee and Shannon Hicks, Fred Hurley and Glen at the Highway Department, Captain Joe Rios of the Newtown Police Department, Tom at Lexington Gardens, and Mary Mitchell and Al Goodrich for their wonderful maps. No words can express our gratitude to all the staff of the Booth Library for their invaluable help with our ticket sales.

We were blessed with good weather and good neighbors and greatly appreciate all who were willing to give of their time and energy to help the Historical Society. All proceeds from the house tour will go toward the preservation and ongoing maintenance of the Matthew Curtiss House and the educational programs presented for the community each month.
