Avis Ingram
Avis Marie Theresa Blanche Ingram, RN, PNEP, (88), of Newtown, Conn., passed away quietly in her sleep early in the morning of Monday, June 13, 2022. Avis was born November 27, 1933, to Herbert and Theresa (Makl) Ingram. She attended Sandy Hook Elementary and graduated from Hawley High School in 1952.
Avis graduated from Danbury Hospital and became certified as a Registered Nurse in November 1957. She led an accomplished career in nursing, including being charge ER Nurse and running the Infection Control Department at Danbury Hospital and instructing at the Danbury Hospital Medical Record Certificate Program. Her surviving classmates and coworkers will miss her greatly.
Avis also made dear friends during her years living at Candlewood Park in Danbury and later at Nunnawauk Meadows in Newtown. She will be remembered fondly for her candid conversations and independent view of life.
Avis was a spiritual soul and enjoyed studying astrology and mysticism. She’d also like you to know that she was licensed to carry a handgun. Most of all, she loved animals, with her dear Punky, Muffy, and CeCe waiting for her across the Rainbow Bridge.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am on July 14 at St Rose Cemetery in Sandy Hook, Conn. Donations in Avis’ memory can be made to the CT Humane Society, the CT Food Bank, or the Disabled American Veterans.
