Wilton Outdoor Concert

Series Has Returned

WILTON — Wilton Library has opened its annual “Summer Music & More” outdoor concert series, which will run on consecutive Thursdays, from 5 to 6:30 pm, and will offer many styles of music: blues, rock, jazz and contemporary acoustic rock.

The next concert in the series will present teen bands Studs on the Run (rock with a reggae influence) and Riding Shot Gun (jazz) on July 13.

Wilton native Jeff Harding, who lives in Florida, will return to the library with Frank Licari on July 20 with a contemporary acoustic rock sound.

Doug Leess and Wiltonian Ron Brault will perform as The Wingnuts (unplugged) on July 27. The latter is an acoustic version of The Wingnuts, who have appeared previously at the library.

Kathy Leeds, director of the library, recently commented, “What’s especially exciting about this year’s concerts is that we now have the wonderful Brubeck Room in which to have the performances should there be a threat of rain. We use to do anti-rain dances to keep the clouds and drops away. Now we don’t have to worry — all concerts will go on as scheduled.”

The series has been well received, with more than 100 people attending each concert. Children enjoy the free spirit atmosphere and swing and sway to the music. Michael Crystal, founder of The Grand Crew Wine Club, provides wine for the series. the concerts, food and refreshments are free.

Wilton Library is at 137 Old Ridgefield Road in Wilton Center. For more information, call 203-762-3950 or visit WiltonLibrary.org.
