Tulon Brown, 83, of Shelton, died June 29 at Lord Chamberlain Manor, Stratford. He was the beloved husband of 57 years to Sophie Bajor Brown. Mr Brown was born in Newsite, Miss., son of Roy and Edna Twitty Brown and was a Shelton resident for 57 years.
He was the beloved father of Geraldine Brown of Newtown, David Brown of Boston, Judy Salzano and her husband, Bob, of Ansonia, and Richard Brown and his wife, Darlene, of Tallmadge, Ohio; he was the brother of Mary Caroline Bridges and her husband, Donald, of Nettleton, Miss., Mattie Frances Calton of Chicago, and Laron L. Brown and his wife, Clarice, of Booneville, Miss. Mr Brown was the loving grandfather of John Spillane and his wife, Lesley, and of Jacob and Gregory Brown and Thomas Salzano; he was the great-grandfather of Christian and Adrian Spillane; and he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A brother, James T. Brown, and a sister, Betty Sue Dees, predeceased him.
Mr Brown was employed at Bridgeport Machine for more than 35 years until his retirement in 1988. He was a Merchant Marine serving during World War II. He was the head usher and was very active at the First United Methodist Church of Shelton. Mr Brown was also an avid gardener.
Funeral services were held July 3 in the First United Methodist Church of Shelton. Burial followed at Mt St Peterâs Cemetery.
