Tickets Available For Broadway On Beachside Grant Presentation July 9
WESTPORT â SpinOdysseyâ¢, a Norwalk-based indoor cycling fundraising organization, will be recognized for its contribution toward breast cancer research at the American Cancer Societyâs 11th annual Broadway on Beachside event on Sunday, July 9, at The Inn at Longshore.
More than a quarter of a million dollars raised by SpinOdyssey will be presented to two breast cancer research scientists. SpinOdyssey will fully fund Victor R. Grann, MD, MPH, and his study âDecision Analysis or Population Screening for BRCA 1 and 2 Mutations.â SpinOdyssey and supporters of Broadway on Beachside will partner in funding the research project of Deborah Brancho, PhD, entitled, âIdentifying the Role of Adipocytes in Mammary Tumorigenesis.âÂ
Chaired by Maggie Hornung and Cissy Hornung, both of Westport, Broadway on Beachside is a recognition event that successfully serves as a vehicle to recognize individuals for their financial support, to formally present the significant donations to newly funded researchers, and to alert people to what cancer research is all about. Since its inception, more than $3.5 million has been earmarked for cancer research through Broadway on Beachside.
Opportunities to meet these distinguished research scientists, witness the distribution of their grantsâ and enjoy the musical talents of two-time Tony Award winner James Naughton and other premiere Broadway performers are still available.Â
SpinOdyssey is a volunteer-driven event organized by breast cancer survivors, spinning instructors and students, their families and friends. In its seventh year, SpinOdyssey provides riders with a memorable experience while raising breast cancer awareness.Â
Spin has collectively raised nearly $800,000 directly toward the front lines of breast cancer research. Readers who would like to learn more about SpinOdyssey can log onto www.spinodyssey.org.
