DERBY â The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protectionâs (DEPâs) Kellogg Environmental Center will be offering the Wild Kids Summer Programs for children ages 12â16 who are interested in improving the environment and habitat for wildlife, learning lifelong nature skills, and making new friends.
This year the program will focus on exploring the world of Connecticut birds, improving bird habitats, field identification, and research techniques. The goal of the Wild Kids program is to inspire the next generation of conservation leaders through hands-on environmental research experiences.
The program aims to instill stewardship of the land and encourages children to become involved in community action.
The 2006 summer program dates are July 10â14, July 17â21, and July 24â28 from 8 am to noon each day. Registration is on a single week basis and the cost is $40 per week.
For more information and to register call the Kellogg Center at 734-2513 between 9 am and 4:30 pm, Tuesday through Saturday. The Kellogg Environmental Center is located at 500 Hawthorne Avenue (off Route 34).
