Excellence In Teaching Award

Goes To Reed Teacher

Lillian Martenson, a fifth grade teacher at Reed Intermediate School, was recently awarded the 2006 Weller Excellence in Teaching Award in recognition of her project entitled, “Exploring and Discovering Through PowerPoint,” which was implemented in fifth grade.

The Weller Excellence in Teaching Award (formerly The Weller Outstanding Teacher Award) program was introduced to the Newtown Public School System in 1990. The award recognizes the teaching quality and innovation exhibited by classroom teachers of kindergarten through grade five.

As recipient of this award, Ms Martenson was honored at the Foundation’s Annual Awards Banquet held at the Dolan School of Business at Fairfield University on May 10 and presented with a $1,000 award and a Certificate of Honor.
