Carnival Contributions

Appreciated

To the Editor:

On behalf of the Parish Community of Saint Rose of Lima, I want to express my thanks to all of you who supported our annual carnival in any way. First and foremost, I want to thank God for answering the many prayers we offered for the blessing of good weather. In spite of long range and daily forecasts of rain and storms, our carnival was rain free! I truly believe that what Jesus promised is true: ask and you shall receive!

I also want to express our thanks to the many local businesses and professionals who donated so much for the carnival and signed on as carnival sponsors. These include: Bagel Delight, Michael Burton Builders, Andrew Buzzi, Jr, City Grill, Duct Dusters, LLC, Church Hill Physical Therapy, Tim Conlan Company, Kevin Cragin, Creative Mailing Services, Designer Bodies, Gallagher Lawnscape, LLC, Henry Gellert, DDS, Hickey Septic Service, Tim Holian, attorney at law, Ice Cream Shop, Klickers, Knights of Columbus Council #185, Lathrop School of Dancing, Little Explorers Child Development, Little Merry Fellow at the Little Green Barn, Magic Garden, Nanavaty, Nanavaty & Davenport, LLP, Newtown Airport & Limousine Service, Newtown Bait & Tackle, Newtown Cleaners, Newtown Exxon, Newtown General Store, Newtown Savings, Newtown Tree Service PJ’s Laundromat, Anne Ragusa, attorney at law, Red Baron Carpet Cleaning LLC, Rich’s Keys and Locks LLC, Rosa Mexicano, Suzuki Talent Education School, Swanky Franks, Union Savings Bank, Washington Mutual, William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty.

We are also very grateful to the many local restaurants who were more than generous in their contributions to us: Carminuccio’s, Franco’s Pizza, Mona Lisa Restaurant, My Place Restaurant, Newtown Deli, Sal e Pepe’s Restaurant, Sandy Hook Diner, Smeraglino’s Caterers, The Fireside Inn, The Inn at Newtown.

Our parishioners who volunteered their time, talent, and energy to provide a safe and happy environment for our attendees are a true blessing as well. No one really knows the hours of time and commitment that go into making an event like this a success. Special thanks to the following: Frank Middleton, Kathy Belmont, and Mary Jo Runkle (food coordinators); Chris Locke and the Knights of Columbus (fried dough booth); Doreen Morrissey, Fran Gargano, and the Parish Finance Council (financial matters and accounting),; Peggy Baiad (raffle chairperson); Rodd Blessey, Joe DeMaida, Eileen Dunseith, and the Youth Group (Kiddieland); Melissa Kopcik (sponsor coordinator); Kevin Cragin and Rich Tortora (set up and break down); Lynda and Jim Healey (volunteer and supplies coordinators); and the score of people who worked side by side with them to keep the carnival running smoothly.

Very special thanks to the Newtown Police for their vigilance and the Newtown Hook and Ladder Fire Company for standing ready and offering safety tips to our attendees.

We are very proud of our efforts to provide a safe and happy event for the community. In spite of parking issues, running low on some of the favorite food and drink items, we had a great time bringing a great time to all!

Again, my thanks to all of you who supported our efforts as we strive to strengthen our parish community and build for our tomorrows!
