Syracuse University College of Visual and Performing Arts announces the following students have been named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester: Christine Shannon, an illustration major, and Rosemary Ziemann, an interior design major, both members of the NHS Class of 2003.

Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I., announces the following students have been named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester: Elizabeth Arnold, communications major; Heidi Ekstrom, finance major; and Gregory Golino, finance major.

Kristin Mulrane, NHS Class of 2002, received a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania.

Jennifer Murphy, a junior majoring in economics, has been named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester at Colby College in Waterville, Me.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has announced the names of students who have made the institute’s Dean’s List for the spring 2006 semester. Rebecca S. Gellis, a sophomore majoring in management; Sarah A. Janisch, a senior majoring in biochemistry and biophysics; and Branden J. Roumanis, a senior majoring in computer science, all achieved Dean’s List status.

The University of Scranton, a Jesuit university in northeastern Pennsylvania, has also released its Dean’s List for the 2006 spring semester. A total of 1,234 students were named to the list, including the following Newtown and Sandy Hook residents: Kelley E. Fitzgerald, a sophomore majoring in communications; Eileen P. Honan, senior, political science; Rebecca L. Pennucci, junior, psychology; and Alexa A. Vacaro, junior, elementary education.

Jonathan Read, Class of 2007 at Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, N.Y., earned honors for the spring semester. He is the son of Rory and Mary Read of Newtown. Tara Ryan, Class of 2009 at Skidmore College, earned honors for the spring semester. She is the daughter of Jack and Patricia Ryan of Sandy Hook.

The following Newtown students were named to the honor roll for the fifth marking period at Canterbury School: Amanda LaPorta, high honors; and Brianna Berg, Kyle Ekstrom, MacKenzie Fuller, and Meridith Palo, honors.

Linda Chamiec-Case and Christopher Meier, seniors at NHS this fall, have been awarded the Lesley College Book Award. Lesley College, in Cambridge, Mass., presents the awards to both a male and a female student who has been nominated by their high school, based on community service through civic engagement, activism, or social justice.
