Call For Volunteers

To Help Grieving Children

MERIDEN — The Cove Center for Grieving Children, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping grieving children and families throughout the state, has announced the acceptance of applications for volunteer facilitators for children’s support groups.

Facilitators are needed for Cove family, urban, and school programs to volunteer at family Cove sites, schools, churches, and youth organizations throughout Connecticut.

Facilitators will lead groups of children through a program of activities geared to foster self-expression about grief and encourage them to express feelings in a safe and nurturing environment.

“Caring and well-trained volunteers are a vital aspect of The Cove program, said The Cove’s executive director, Kim Nagle.

An initial all-day training will be held at the Cove Coordinating Office in Meriden on Saturday, July 22. The same training will occur on Saturday, August 12.

The Cove Center serves children and families throughout Connecticut and trains educators, human service providers and parents about the unique circumstances involving childhood bereavement. A volunteer-driven organization, The Cove does not receive state or federal funding and relies upon support from individual donations, corporate grants and fundraising activities.
