Bicycle Accident
A 14-year-old boy was injured when the bicycle he was riding collided with a station wagon near 33 Elm Drive about 5:46 pm June 29, according to police.
Police said that the boy, whom they declined to identify, was peddling a bicycle northward on the right road shoulder, when he made a left turn and collided with the right front fender of a 2003 Nissan station wagon being driven northward by motorist Susan Kliczewski, 45, of 3 Borough Lane.
The boy told police he experienced pain in his left hand and foot. The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported him to Danbury Hospital to be checked.
Police verbally warned the boy bicyclist for failure to ride a bicycle as far right as practical. Police took no enforcement against the Nissan driver.
DUI Arrest
Police report they saw motorist Daniel Lynch, 23, of Bridgeport driving across the roadâs centerline on Mile Hill Road about 1:45 am July 1, so they stopped him to investigate.
After he performed field sobriety tests, police charged Lynch with driving under the influence and with failure to drive to the right. After processing, police released Lynch on $100 bail for a July 18 court appearance.
Mt Pleasant Collision
Police report a two-vehicle accident about 5:40 pm June 27 near 115 Mt Pleasant Road.
The motorists involved in the collision were Dawn Wright, 38, of 16 Platts Hill Road, who was driving a 2003 GMC, and motorist Russell Trezise, 39, of 99 Huntingtown Road, who was driving a 2002 Mazda, police said. There were no injuries. Wright received an infraction ticket for passing on the right and for driving without a license, police said.
The Boulevard
A two-car accident occurred on The Boulevard near its intersection with Schoolhouse Hill Road about 5:40 pm June 30.
Motorist Ryan Shaw, 17, of 82 Eden Hill Road, who was driving a 2004 Subaru sedan westward on Schoolhouse Hill Road, turned left to travel southward on The Boulevard, but the Subaru began to skid laterally and entered the northbound lane, police said.
The Subaru then collided head-on with a northbound 2000 Nissan sedan driven by Dawn Tillman, 46, of New Milford, police said.
There were no injuries. Shaw received an infraction ticket for failure to drive to the right.
Marijuana
Police report that they stopped a vehicle on Berkshire Road about 8:49 pm July 2 to investigate and found that a passenger in the auto was in possession of marijuana.
Police said they arrested Marquis Chambers, 28, of West Haven on a charge of possession of less than four ounces of marijuana. Police released Chambers on $100 bail for a July 21 court appearance.
DUI Arrest
Police said that at about 12:40 am July 2, they stopped motorist David Szigeti, 38, of Stratford on Route 25 because he was driving over the roadâs center line and because he had no front marker plate on his vehicle.
After field sobriety testing, police charged Szigeti with driving under the influence, with failure to display a marker plate, and with a travel lane violation. Police held Szigeti on $250 bail for a July 3 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
DUI Case
Police report they saw a motorist driving a 1999 Plymouth Breeze erratically in a parking lot at 6 Queen Street at about 12:40 am July 5, so they stopped her to investigate.
Police said they charged Jenna Wilkie, 19, of 23 Castle Meadow Road with driving under the influence while underage. After posting $50 bail, police released Wilkie for a July 19 court appearance.
Alcohol Case
Police said they responded to a Little Brook Lane residence about 1:36 am July 5 to make a requested health-and-welfare check on a 17-year-old girl.
Police said that on arriving at the home, they found Christopher Hicks, Jr, 23, of 43-A Botsford Hill Road there with several underage youths. One of those youths needed to be transported to Danbury Hospital to be treated for a high level of intoxication, police said.
Police said they arrested Hicks on charges of delivering alcohol to a minor, second degree reckless endangerment, and interfering with police. Hicks was held on $500 bail for a court appearance later that day.
Firecrackers
Sometime between 10:30 and 11 pm on July 2, someone lit firecrackers at 115 High Rock Road, causing some concrete there to become scorched, police said. Police are investigating and ask anyone with knowledge of the crime to contact them at 426-5841.
Barnabas Road
Motorist Harrison Moore, 19, of 44 The Old Road was driving a 1996 Infiniti G-20 sedan eastward on Barnabas Road about 9:30 am July 4, when Moore fell asleep and struck some curbing along the right road shoulder, after which the auto struck a utility pole, police said.
Moore, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured. The autoâs airbag deployed. Police issued Moore an infraction ticket for making an improper turn.
South Main Accident
A two-vehicle accident occurred near 77 South Main Street about 5 pm June 27.
Motorist Ethan Bailey, 27, of 20 Lake Road, who was driving a 1994 Nissan Sentra sedan, was attempting to exit a driveway, as motorist Judith Corrigan, 49, of 4 Driftway Drive was driving a 1999 Toyota Sienna minivan northward on South Main Street, police report.
The two vehicles collided. Judith Corrigan and Toyota passenger Rebecca Corrigan, 20, of 4 Driftway Drive were each treated at the scene by ambulance volunteers, police said.
Police issued Bailey an infraction ticket for failure to grant the right of way.
Vandalism
Sometime between 8 pm June 29 and 8:30 am June 30, someone vandalized several residential mailboxes positioned along Hanover Road. Police are investigating and ask anyone with information on the crimes to contact them at 426-5841.
Rear-Ender
About 1:08 pm June 29, motorist Scott Rockafellow, 32, of Waterbury, who was driving a 2003 Chrysler Sebring coupe, was making a left turn from Washington Avenue onto Church Hill Road, when he stopped for some pedestrians who were using a crosswalk, police said.
Motorist Ashleigh Pasko, 18, of 11 Currituck Road, who was driving a 1999 Toyota Corolla behind the Chrysler, also made a left turn and struck the Chrysler from behind, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Pasko a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Murano Vs Deer
About 2:27 pm June 29, as motorist Lucille Rossi, 41, of 14 Rockywood Drive was driving a 2003 Nissan Murano northward near 46 Gelding Hill Road, a deer entered the road, police said. The Nissan and the deer collided.
Key Rock Collision
Police report a head-on collision near 43 Key Rock Road about 11:35 am June 28.
Motorist Lynn Kwiatkowski, 49, of 4 Pilgrim Lane, who was driving a 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander northward on Key Rock Road, became distracted while rounding a curve in the road and entered the opposite lane, police said.
At that time, southbound motorist Nicola Maggioni, 32, of Naugatuck, who was driving a 2004 Saturn Ion, was entering that curve from the opposite direction, police said.
Both drivers then attempted to stop their vehicles, but skidded into one another head-on, police said.
Maggioni received abrasions from the Saturnâs airbag deployment, but refused medical attention, police said. Police issued Kwiatkowski an infraction ticket for failure to drive to the right on a curve.
