A Kayak Odyssey In The South Pacific
WASHINGTON GREEN â On Thursday, July 27, at 6:30 pm, Gunn Memorial Library will host Horst Antosch, who will present a talk and digital slideshow of his kayaking adventures in the South Pacific.
Mr Horst journeyed in a kayak from western Samoa and the Solomon Islands and spent time with the natives in the Marovo Lagoon. He will share hiking and kayaking tales from Abel Tasman National Park in New Zealand, his exploration of Grand Terre in New Caledonia, and even Mail Plain in the Australian Outback and new South Wales.
Mr Antosch, who is given the nickname âThe Tough Old Americanâ by locals, will also share his experience of a plane crash in the jungle that exposed local corruption.
Previous adventures have included 13,000 miles on a motorbike in the United States, riding the Trans Siberian Railroad across Russia to Mongolia and China, and traveling from Capetown South Africa along Namibiaâs Skeleton Coast to the Etusha Pan.
