Michael G. West

Michael G. West, 78, husband of Rose (Barber) West of Elizabeth Circle, Walnut Tree Village, Sandy Hook, formerly of Carmel, N.Y., died July 6 at his home.

Mr West was born in Swinnemunde, Germany, October 25, 1921. He was educated in various European universities.

Mr West was employed by Standard Register Company as a technical engineer on mainframe computers. He retired in 1983. Mr West was a loving, gentle, and deeply honest man. He loved music, literature, the study of human nature, philosophy, and the Bible.

Long active in the Big Brother program, Mr West was instrumental in starting a one-on-one program.

Mr West is survived, besides his wife, by one brother, Fritz Wodetzki and his wife Anneliese of Germany; a brother-in-law, Donald Barker and his wife Maria of Roxbury; eight nieces; one nephew; one great-nephew; and one great-great niece.

Funeral services were held July 8 from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, and at St Rose of Lima Church, Newtown, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment was in Raymond Hill Cemetery, Carmel, N.Y.
