WATERBURY â For those who thought Jurassic Park was pure fiction, the nationally acclaimed exhibit âDinosaur Families â The Story of Egg Mountainâ is at Brass Mill Center in Waterbury through August 26. The exhibit, featuring real fossilized dinosaur eggs and moving robotic dinosaurs, is a first-hand look into the land before time.
The exhibit is being presented by AT&T and Waterbury Region Convention & Visitors Bureau, and proceeds will benefit the Mattatuck Museum, an award-winning regional art and history museum.
The Mattatuck Museum is offering art activities and storytelling free with paid admission to the exhibit. Every week an enthusiastic storyteller will read a dinosaur related story from exciting books at 10:30 am.
The storytelling schedule continues as follows: Thursday, July 26, Waldenbooks staff members; Thursday, August 2, Waldenbooks staff members; Thursday, August 9, Johanna Holzbaur, volunteer, Mattatuck Museum; Thursday, August 16, Ed Dzitko, communications director, Greater Waterbury Chamber of Commerce; and Thursday, August 25, Johanna Holzbaur, volunteer, Mattatuck Museum.
For one more week, young artists are invited to join an artist in the activity area of the âDinosaurs Come Aliveâ exhibit to enjoy a hands-on art activity. Each participant will go home with a finished project which may include a drawing, illustration or collage. The art activity schedule will conclude on Tuesday, July 24, with artist Mark Szantyr of Waterbury.
The exhibit is open daily during the mallâs normal hours â Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 9:30 pm, and Sunday, 11 am to 6 pm. Admission to the exhibit is adults (age 13 and up) $4; children (ages 3 to 12) $3; and children 2 and under free. Space is limited for the special art activities.
