Docent Training At Mattatuck Museum
Docent Training At Mattatuck Museum
WATERBURY â The Mattatuck Museum is offering a training class for new docents.
The first session will meet on Tuesdays, July 31 through August 21, from 10 am to noon. The second session will begin on September 11 and run through October 2.
Anyone with some time to volunteer, who likes to learn about art and history, and who enjoys sharing that knowledge with others, particularly school-age children, is invited to the upcoming training class.
Docents are volunteers trained to conduct tours of the museum and bring the exhibits and collections fully to life for patrons. They are a vital part of the museumâs education programs.
Docents are asked to give two tours a month once they have been trained. They are relied on, particularly during the school year, to conduct tours for the thousands of children that visit the museum on field trips each year.
The training classes prepare interested individuals to conduct tours and include information on the museumâs own history and its extensive art and history collections.
To register for the training or for further information, call the museumâs coordinator of education programs, Nina Cherubino, at 203-753-0381 extension 13.
