Drew University student Jennifer Beth Dorenbosch of Newtown has been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester 2002.

Michael Sturges

Michael Sturges, a junior at Central Connecticut State University, has been named to the dean’s list. He is majoring in history and geography. Mr Sturges is the son of Patricia Andrews of Woodbury and David Sturges of Terryville.

His maternal grandparents are Mr and Mrs Richard W. Andrews of Newtown. His paternal grandparents are Robert H. Sturges of Sandy Hook and Jean Stempal of Lenox, Mass.

Two-hundred eighty-one graduates of Teikyo Post University’s Class of 2002 received Bachelor’s and Associate’s degrees in business and liberal arts disciplines at the 112th commencement, Saturday, May 4. James Borst of Sandy Hook, with a degree in General Studies, was valedictorian of the Accelerated Degree Program. The following local residents were among the graduates: Bryan Lewis of Hawleyville, graduated with a BS in Integrated Business; Jennifer June of Sandy Hook graduated with a BS in Equine Management; and Lori Terhaar of Sandy Hook graduated with a BS in General Studies.

Ryan M. Mauro of Newtown was named to the dean’s list honors at Nichols College.

Elizabeth Sovern of Sandy Hook, a 1999 graduate of Newtown High School, has made the dean’s list at Marist College. She has been named a co-captain of both the woman’s swimming and diving team and the woman’s water polo team.

Christopher J. Calero of Newtown received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the College of Arts & Sciences at Marquette University.

Jessica Singer of Newtown was named to the dean’s list at Canisius College for the spring semester. Ms Singer is a sophomore majoring in sociology.

Todd Palo of Newtown achieved dean’s list for the 2002 spring semester at Lafayette College. He is a member of the Class of 2005.

Keegan Finlayson

Keegan Finlayson, son of Brian and Karen Finlayson of Sandy Hook, has graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and a Bachelor of Arts degree in comparative religious studies from the University of Connecticut. He will be pursing a Master’s degree in education at the University of Connecticut.

Marisa Burnham-Bestor of Sandy Hook was among 416 graduates to receive a bachelor’s degree May 27 from Bates College. She graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. A dean’s list student, Ms Burnham-Bestor is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, a national honor society recognized as conferring the highest undergraduate academic honors. She spent her junior year studying in Sweden and in 1999 she was named a Dana Scholar for excellence in academics and leadership. A 1998 graduate of Newtown High School, she is the daughter of John Bestor and Mary Burnham.

Springfield College has named the following local residents to the dean’s list for academic excellence for the Spring, 2002 term: Matthew Bouteiller of Newtown, a senior majoring in Physician Assistant; Ryan Loring of Newtown, a senior majoring in Movement and Sports Studies; Andrea Rustine of Sandy Hook, a junior majoring in Physician Assistant; and Emily Simoneau of Sandy Hook, a sophomore majoring in Rehab & Disability Studies.

The following local residents were named to the dean’s list during the 2002 spring term at Middlebury College: James G. Dunseith, son of Richard and Eileen Kahn Dunseith of Newtown, and Amichai D. Kilchevsky, son of Eitan and Laurie Kilchevsky of Newtown..

The University of Hartford announced the following local students who achieved dean’s list for the 2002 spring semester. They are David A. Kremenitzer and John A. Pantan of Newtown, and David M. Portanova and Randy J. Calderone of Sandy Hook.

Glenn T. Stiewing was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2002 semester at Eastern Connecticut State University. He is majoring in child psychology.
