Professional Critiques To Be Offered At Next SCAN Meeting

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown, Inc. will offer an opportunity for members to have a professional critique of their artwork  – and for the public to hear some of the things judges sometimes look for – on Wednesday, July 12, at 7:30 pm. The program will be at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street in Newtown (at the flagpole). Admission is free.

Marija Pavlovich McCarthy will offer a constructive critique of members’ artwork using her many years of experience both as an educator in art and as a professional artist. She received her initial training at the Academy of Fine Art, Belgrade, and continued at Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C.

Mrs McCarthy has taught painting in all mediums at the Corcoran, the Maryland College of Art and Design and the Art League, Alexandria, Va. She has had many one-woman shows, and her work has been featured in the spring 1996 issue of Watercolor magazine, represented in Best of Watercolor (Rockport Publishers, Inc. 1995), and in American Artist magazine in 1990.

Her work hangs in the National Museum of Yugoslavia and in Congressional and private collections throughout the world.

It is not necessary to be a member of SCAN to attend the informative critique.
