âMusic Under the Starsâ
Sponsored by Newtown Youth Services, a community fundraiser to benefit Newtownâs youth.
Friday, July 21, 7:30 to 9:30 pm, Pavilion at Dickenson Park, Newtown. Gates open at 7 pm.
Featuring: Newtownâs own Playback, debuting their newest album Urban Lullaby.
Admission: $5 per person, children under 6 are free. For further information or in case of severe weather, call 270-4335 for concert status. Rain date: July 22.

POSITIVE PARENTING workshops can be hosted in your school, business, or home! We are presently setting up the fall schedule so now is the time to inquire.
New to NYSâs Parenting Program will be a course for parents of special needs children.

The Youth Garden is a work in progress. Looking for middle and high school age youth to volunteer several hours a week. Varieties of flowers and vegetables are/will be planted and cared for. Please call the office for further information.

MENTORSHIP
Are you interested in becoming a certified mentor? NYS will work around your summer schedule. We welcome all high school students and adults who would like to give some of their time to help someone.

âTHINGS I WISH HAD KNOWN BEFORE I WENT TO COLLEGE!â
If you are a college-bound senior and have questions on just what college life is really like join present college students on five Wednesday nights beginning July 5 at 7 pm. Discussions will explore various aspects of college life.
July 5 â âAdjusting to a New Worldâ on your own, stress, depression, living with 40 strangers.
July 12 â âSex and the Social Sceneâ
July 19 â âSubstance Abuseâ
July 26 â âNutritionâ âThe Freshman 15â; eating disorders.
August 2 â ââFinancial Matters, Time Management, Diversity, Transferringâ
College students will answer questions honestly and provide an insight into just what is myth and what is reality on todayâs campuses.
In order for the students to gather as much information as possible, this workshop is for STUDENTS ONLY.
There is no fee. Come to one or all of the workshops. Interested students please call to pre-register.
Youth Group Meetings
The High School Youth Advisory Board (HS YAB) and the Middle School Youth Advisory Board (MS YAB) have finished their meetings for the year.
If you are interested in joining one of these groups please call the NYS office. New members are always welcome!
