*Two of the PETER OBRE-ALLAN JOHNSON shows mentioned last week for 707 On Main in Monroe have been cancelled. The July 19 and July 25 are now off.

*Newtown band DIOXIDE is getting ready for its next show at The Webster Theatre in Hartford. The July 26 will feature a headlining set by TAPROOT, and additional sets by Social Burn and Boy Sets Fire. Dioxide lead singer Sean Rosenthal said this week the show will probably sell out, and he expects additional bands to be added to the roster.

Tickets are available ahead of time by contacting any of the guys in Dioxide.

Visit their website at www.DioxideMusic.net. Those who purchase tickets in advance and through the band will only be paying $15, while most others going through the Webster’s website or tickets.com will pay upwards of $22.

*Tickets for the July 4 BEN FOLDS show at Toad’s Place in New Haven are still available, at $28.50 if purchased in advance or $30 at the door. The 9 pm show is open to all ages.

*A previously announced Reggae Vibes Tour that was to be at Toad’s Place has been replaced by an all ages LAMB OF GOD show for July 20.

*Connecticut resident (still?) MEAT LOAF had to cancel some shows that had been scheduled this week due to emergency intestinal outpateint surgery earlier this month. Apparently recovering from the June 10 trip to the emergency room, Meat Loaf expects to return to the road this Saturday, picking up his Couldn’t Have Said It Better/The LAST World Tour with a July 5 show in London.

Closer to home, Meat Loaf’s website is also saying that a September 3 stop at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville has been confirmed and that tickets will be going on sale next weekend. Tickets will be available Sunday, July 13, beginning at 10 am, and priced at $25 and $40. CYNDI LAUPER will be opening.

*On sale now are tickets for SHERYL CROW’s second stop in Connecticut this summer. Crow, who will be at Ives Concert Park in Danbury on July 27, will be in Ledyard for a July 31 show at Foxwoods Casino’s Fox Theatre. Tickets for that show are $82.50 and $100 (while the Ives Park tickets range from $11 for kids and $29 for adults on the lawn to $51 or $71 for reserved seating, and all seats are $3 on the day of the show; call 837-9226 or contact at TicketMaster vendor/outlet). Opening the Foxwoods show will be Joe Firstman. Contact the Foxwoods box office for details or purchases, 800-200-2882.

*TIM REYNOLDS is scheduled for an acoustic show at The Colorado Brewery in Danbury on July 18. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door; I strongly suggest getting those early purchases done not just for the $5 savings but because anything with Reynolds’ name attached to it generally does very well.

The club is at 6 Delay Street in Danbury, in the CityCenter district. Call 791-1450 for details. To purchase tickets, call 800-594-TIXX – Colorado Brewery uses MusicToday.com for ticket sales, but call the venue first if you’re unsure about going online. The show is open to all ages, but anyone under the age of 18 will have to be accompanied by a parent or other adult guardian.

*Speaking of the CityCenter district, the July schedule for Tuxedo Junction was sent to me this week and it again includes a listing for BON JOVI tribute band BAD MEDICINE. The band was scheduled to play, at least according to early publicity, at the Danbury club last month but seemed to be replaced at the last minute by locals The Gyst.

Now it’s Bad Medicine again being mentioned, this time for Saturday, July 12. The good news is, Bad Medicine’s website also has the Tuxedo Junction show on its own website. I’d call that promising. To be on the safe side, however, if you want to see this show give Tuxedo Junction a call next weekend to double-check; 748-2561.

Until next week I’ll be seeing you… on the road.

Questions and comments should be sent to Shannon Hicks c/o The Newtown Bee, 5 Church Hill Road, Newtown, CT 06470, or shannon@thebee.com, or call the office at 426-3141.

Shows listed at club locations are for ages 21 and over unless specified.
