Learn To Establish A Community Of Character

WASHINGTON — Whether looking to institute a positive change in an individual classroom, organization or school environment, the 2003 Summer Institutes will demonstrate how to promote teamwork, respect, and good character among children. Devereux Glenholme School is inviting teachers and others who work directly with children to attend the 2003 Summer Institutes, with sessions this summer running July 29–31 and August 5–7. The three-day seminars will demonstrate the school’s proven action plans in developing a community of character.

Both sessions will be following the same agenda: Day One, “Fundamentals of Building a Community of Character©: Culture, Values and Community”; Day Two, “Promoting Moral Reasoning Methods and Practice”; and Day Three, “Leading Teams of Character Action Planning and Implementation.”

Registration and continental breakfast begin at 8:30 on day one. The two remaining days will run from 9:15 am to 4:15 pm. Registration is limited to 18 for each session, promoting small group discussions and active involvement. The $250 fee includes notebook, materials, meals, and 1.8 CEUs.

Devereux Glenholme is a specialized boarding school that provides a therapeutic program to address varying levels of academic, social, and emotional development in boys and girls ages 5 through 18.

“No matter where someone is on the continuum of implementation, whether a new or mature program, we will help create an action plan that will move you forward,” explains Mary Guilfoile, the director of staff development at The Glenholme School.

To register for the Summer Institutes contact Mary Guilfoile at 860-868-7377 or visit www.CommunitiesOfCharacter.org.
