Failure To Respond
Police report that about 5:19 pm on June 30, they stopped motorist Torees Turner, 32, of New Haven for a motor vehicle violation near the intersection of Berkshire Road and High Rock Road.
Police then learned that there was a pending warrant for Turner’s arrest on a charge of failure to respond to an infraction. New Haven police had issued Turner an infraction for illegal marijuana possession, but Turner did not respond, so a court warrant was issued for his arrest. Turner was released on $150 bail for a July 17 court appearance.
Four Charges
At about 7:54 pm on June 29, police noticed that the marker plate on a vehicle driven by Laquasha Hamm-Johnson, 27, of West Haven, did not match the vehicle to which it was attached, so police stopped her to investigate.
Police then charged Hamm-Johnson with driving with suspended license, failure to have automotive insurance, misuse of marker plates, and failure to display marker plates. Hamm-Johnson was released on $100 bail for a July 11 court appearance.
Truck Hits Rail
About 12:17 pm on June 28, motorist Larry Pignatello, 33, of Sandy Hook, who was driving a 2019 Nissan Titan pickup truck southward on Glen Road, near its intersection with Cherry Street, while negotiating a left curve in the road, struck some guardrailing along the right road shoulder, police said.
The accident occurred when Pignatello drove to the right to avoid colliding with an approaching red sedan, which was traveling northward in the southbound lane. There were no injuries. No enforcement was taken.
Church Hill Road
Two vehicles collided about 5:02 pm on June 28 on Church Hill Road in front of the Blue Colony Diner.
Motorist Brice Johnson, 73, of Lake Wales, Fla., who was driving a 2018 Nissan Rogue SUV westward on Church Hill Road, attempted to make a left turn to enter the diner’s parking lot, but collided with eastbound motorist Jason Daleo, 22, of Holmdel, N.J., who was driving a 2011 Hyundai Sonata sedan, police report.
There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Johnson for failure to grant the right of way.
Toyota Vs Honda
At about 7:38 am on June 27, motorist Eric Casagrande 17, of Newtown, who was driving a 2011 Toyota Venza, stopped at a stop sign on Taunton Lane at its intersection with Mt Pleasant Road, according to police.
Motorist Lindsay Walker, 34, of Brookfield, was driving a 2016 Honda HR-V SUV eastward on Mt Pleasant Road. The Toyota then attempted to enter Mt Pleasant Road, resulting in a collision. There were no injuries. Casagrande received a written warning for failure to grant the right of way at a stop sign.
Olympia Sports
Police report they are seeking two suspects in connection with the theft of seven pairs of shorts worth $280 from Olympia Sports, 228 South Main Street in Botsford, at about 11:40 am on June 27.
One suspect is a slim black man in his early to mid-20s, with a goatee, wearing a black Chicago Bulls baseball cap, blue jeans, and a dark blue T-shirt, police said.
The other suspect is a black woman in her early 20s who appeared to weigh about 250 pounds, wearing shorts, a white Nike tank top, had her hair in a ponytail, and wore a bandanna. The two suspects left the area in an Infinity sedan, police said. Police ask anyone with information to contact them at 203-426-5841 in connection with Case 19-16196.
Flagpole Intersection
A two-vehicle accident occurred at the Main Street flagpole intersection at 12:47 pm on June 27.
In that incident, motorist Jacqueline Smith, 33, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was driving a 2009 Ford Escape SUV southward on Main Street, police said. Motorist Bernice Ullmann, 88, of Newtown, who was driving a 2000 Dodge Intrepid sedan westward on Church Hill Road, stopped for a stop sign.
The Dodge then pulled away from the stop sign and headed toward West Street, after which the two vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Police issued Ullmann a written warning for failure to grant the right of way at a stop sign.
Key Found At Park
On the afternoon of June 27, a person found a key at Dickinson Park at 50 Elm Drive. Police are holding it for safe keeping. The silver-colored key has a blue plastic tag attached to it. That tag bears the lettering “JSW LPLN.” The owner may claim the key by contacting police at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841.
Sedan Hits SUV
At about 9:01 am on June 26, motorist Emily Nealy, 19, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., who was driving a 2007 Subaru Outback SUV eastward on Berkshire Road, near Bradley Lane, stopped for traffic conditions and was struck from behind by a 2015 Nissan Altima sedan driven by Itwaru Nadiawattie, 51, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., police said.
There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Nadiawattie for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Theft Incident
Police report that Lori Patrick, 64, of Redding, was allegedly seen removing approximately $40 worth of merchandise from Caraluzzi’s Market at 5 Queen without paying for those items, at about 2:23 pm on June 25.
After investigating, police charged Patrick with sixth-degree larceny. Patrick was released on written promise to appear in court on July 11 for arraignment on the charge.
