Who Is Looking Out
For The Neighbors?
To the Editor:
After I thought Mr Dautiâs appeal on âaffordable housingâ in Sandy Hook was dead, I read in The Bee that it is not so! [âTown To Appeal Cord Decisions On Condos,â 06/19/09] I am not familiar with the court system in Connecticut, but it struck me as odd that Mr Dauti had to go to New Britain to get what he wanted, after another builder will build âaffordable housingâ less that a mile away.
Who is looking out for Mr Dautiâs neighbors, at the age restricted housing in Walnut Tree Hill, Section II? We live there, and we have restrictions we can live with, such a two persons per household, at least one has to be over age 55. One dog not over 12 inches tall, not more than two cats. No roaming animals, and droppings have to be picked up by the owner. Will Mr Dauti allow Rottweilers, pit bulls etc to enjoy the run of the land around his complex? Where can children play safely on this rugged hill? How many cars per family are allowed, and where will they park?
To me Edona Commons does not meet the standards for health, safety, and welfare of all its occupants. We enjoy our condo, the helpful and friendly neighbors, and access to what Newtown and Sandy Hook have to offer.
