Roberta Madeline Watts, 71, of Waterbury, died June 26, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Yonkers, N.Y.
She is survived by her husband and best friend, Rodney Watts of Waterbury; three sons; a stepson; and was a loving stepmother to Amy Dalton of Sandy Hook. Nine grandchildren also survive her. Ms Watts retired from Western Connecticut State University in 2001 after 14 years of service to the music and health science departments. Upon her retirement, a scholarship fund was set up in her name at the university.
She and members of her family were volunteers at the New Milford Nursing Home for the past ten years. Her hobbies were writing poetry, mostly for her grandchildren, and gardening. She had such fun with Banjo, her Bichon Frise.
 A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 30. A private burial service will be scheduled by the family.
