Library Announces New Notification Service
Library Announces New Notification Service
C.H. Booth Library cardholders who have shared email addresses with the library received on June 29 the first of periodic email announcements that will be sent out. The âe-blastsâ are yet one more method that the library is using to reduce paper use and costs. The library already uses email for hold notifications to patrons, and to post overdue notices, rather than sending them through the mail.
âWeâve had a big push recently to get cardholders to share their email addresses with us,â said librarian Kim Weber. âWe want the addresses for a variety of reasons. It helps us to be more âgreenâ environmentally, and most of all, we are hoping it will help us do a better job of promoting library events,â she said.
âOur goal in providing you with periodic email announcements is to insure that you know what is happening here at your library,â noted the initial e-blast. âThis announcement is to welcome you to this service. Please know that as with all of your information the library will not share your e-mail address with any third party.â
Although current cardholders who have shared email information with the library were automatically signed up for the service, Ms Weber stressed that patrons can unsubscribe at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link attached to the announcement.
âWe donât want anyone to feel that they have to take part in this,â said Ms Weber.
Cardholders who have not previously posted email addresses with the library and who wish to receive email announcements can fill out a form at the main circulation desk on the second floor, or call 426-4533 to sign up. âWe should have a link online at our website [chboothlibrary.org] within the next few weeks,â said Ms Weber. Email message recipients must be cardholders with the C.H. Booth Library in order to sign up.
