Candice Alexandria Woods of Sandy Hook was named to the spring 2009 Dean’s List for the College of Arts and Sciences at Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J.

Stephen Dworkin, Mary Gover, Elizabeth Maret, and Kathleen Sharnick were all named to the Dean’s with High Honors for the 2009 spring semester at Connecticut College in New London. To make the High Honors distinction students must earn a grade point average between 3.7 and 4.0 on a 4.0 grading scale.

Jillian S. D’Eramo of Sandy Hook was named to the 2009 Dean’s List at the University of Scranton, in Scranton, Penn. A student at the university must have a grade point average of 3.5 or more with a minimum number of credent hours to make the Dean’s List.

Samantha Ciaccia, Nicole Haylon, and Amanda Norling of Sandy Hook, and Alyssa Schankman and Shannon Seaman of Newtown were named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2009 semester at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I. Students at the university must earn a grade point average of 3.4 or higher to be placed on the Dean’s List for that semester.

Christina Matz of Sandy Hook graduated from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine, in Standish, in May.

Patrick Duseith, Elisa Van Buskirk, and Olga Virgall were named to the spring 2009 semester Dean’s List at the University of Vermont, in Burlington. To be named to the Dean’s List at the university, students must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or better and rank in the top 20 percent of their class in their respective college or school.

National Garden Clubs Inc awarded a $4,000 scholarship to Marlyse Duguid of Sandy Hook. Marlyse was selected as one of 38 recipients of the organization’s 2009-2010 college scholarships.

Sarah S. Holroyd of Sandy Hook received a degree from Clark University on May 17. Sarah graduated cum laude earning a bachelor of arts degree.

Francesca J. Piscitelli, a 2009 graduate of Lycoming College in Williamsport, Penn., was recently inducted into the Psi Chi Psychology honors society, which recognizes students who complete eight semester hours of psychology and achieve within the top 35 percent of their class rank. Francesca doubled majored in business administration and psychology while studying at the college.

Nicholas Garofalo, Don Cervone, and Mark Zanghi were named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield. To be named to the Dean’s List at the university students must achieve a 3.6 grade point average, based on a 4.0 scale.

Jennifer Brill was named to the Dean’s List at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. Jennifer is a freshman at the school, majoring in human development in the school’s College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.

Louisa Jean Yemc recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Connecticut, Storrs, with a bachelor of science degree in nutritional sciences and a minor in cell and molecular biological sciences.

Jacqueline Ercole graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Connecticut, Storrs, on May 10, with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology and a minor in criminology. Jacqueline was a National Society of Collegiate Scholar and an Honors Scholar. Jacqueline plans to continue her education at Yale University where she is enrolled in the graduate entry pre-specialty in nursing program with a clinical specialty in psychiatric mental health nursing.

Amichai David Kilchevsky, son of Eitan and Laurie Kilchevsky, recently graduated with a doctor of medicine degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Amichai is now fulfilling a residency in the urology department at Yale University in New Haven.

Kyle Palo, son of Beverly Palo and the late Richard T. Palo, was named to the Dean’s List for the spring term 2009 at Southern New Hampshire University, in Manchester, N.H. Kyle is an information technology and finance major at the university.
