Admirals’ American Legion Results

Results from the Admirals’ American Legion Post 100-202 baseball team’s games during the past two weeks are as follows:

Prospect 6, Admirals 2: Jason Skibek tossed a complete game 2-hitter as the Admirals fell to Prospect at Bethel High School this past Sunday evening. Joe Fedak and Anthony Lucia had the only hits for the Admirals. Zach Taylor pitched four innings of no-hit ball in relief for the Admirals.

Oakville 10, Admirals 2: Oakville rode 11 hits and 5 Admirals errors to a victory Saturday afternoon at Taft School. Trailing 2-0 in the fourth, the Admirals fought back as Corey Stevens hit a two-out double and scored on Clay Caron’s single to close the gap to one run. But timely hitting and costly errors in the bottom of the inning led to four Oakville runs. James Viscio had two hits in the defeat.

Admirals 2, Naugatuck 1: Dan Wogksch fired a three-hitter, striking out 13 batters over nine innings as the Admirals edged Naugatuck on the road on June 25. Clay Caron singled in the third and scored on Joe Fedak’s double and it looked like that was all Wogksch would need, but an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh tied the game at a run apiece. Adam Geriak singled to lead off the ninth, advanced to second on a single by Dan Milot, then scored on Zach Taylor’s single and Wogksch made the lead stand in the bottom of the ninth for the win. Geriak, Taylor and Fedak had two hits apiece for the Admirals.

New Milford 6, Admirals 2: The Admirals jumped out to a two run lead in the top of the first inning but could muster only one more hit the rest of the game as host New Milford came from behind on June 24. Ken Bardelli’s leadoff single, Bob Manfreda’s double and Adam Geriak’s single accounted for all of the Admirals’ scoring in the first. Cory Stevens’ double in the seventh completed the Admirals offense for the game. Stevens also recorded the final four outs in succession in relief of Admirals’ starter James Viscio.

Admirals 15, Danbury 0: Zack Taylor pitched a complete game shutout, scattering six hits and striking out 11, as the Admirals took advantage of six walks and four hit batters to go with a 14-hit attack in Danbury on June 23. Joe Fedak doubled twice, scored twice, and drove in three runs and Bob Manfreda had three hits and scored three times. Dan Wogksch also had three hits and scored twice for the Admirals. Alan Nunez went 2-for-3 for Danbury.

Admirals 3, Prospect 1: At Beacon Falls on June 20, Dan Wogksch fired a complete game two-hitter, Adam Geriak homered and JR Shine drove in two runs in the sixth to break a 1-1 tie, sending the Admirals to their second win in as many games to start the summer season. Prospect scored an unearned run in the first inning, but was unable to mount a significant threat against Wogksch, who struck out five batters. Jamie Viscio, Bob Manfreda, and Anthony Lucia also had hits for the Admirals.
