The Rising Star Summer Basketball League will hold a clinic on Wednesday, July 11, at 6 pm, at Treadwell Park to help kick off its third season. League play will begin on Monday, July 16, at Treadwell.
Many Newtown High School basketball players will be on hand to assist at the clinic. It is a great opportunity for young players to re-discover their basketball skills and great ready for the summer league.
âWe encourage everyone to attend,â said organizer John Quinn. âThe clinic will be focused on all aspects of your game â conditioning, dribbling, shooting, defense and rebounding. You will also have an opportunity to meet your coaches, and begin to get ready for the season.â
Coach Quinn would like ALL PLAYERS interested in participating to come to the clinic. Those who have not registered are welcomed and encouraged to participate as we will be having open registrations at the clinic that evening (registration forms will be available at the clinic â league fee is $60.00 payable to Newtown Park amd Recreation).
âWe want ALL aspiring players entering seventh, eighth, and ninth grades to participate,â said coach Quinn. âOur approach is to encourage ALL players to join. We use a FULL roster system, which allows players to still enjoy summer vacation, participate in soccer, baseball, and so on.â
League rules, schedules, league format, and other information will be presented after the clinic. Anyone who canât attend the clinic will receive this information at the first game.
