Police Grant Approved

The state legislature has approved a $6,000 grant for the town’s police department, according to state Rep Julia Wasserman.

The grant may be used for a variety of purposes, including hiring, training, and employing new police officers and support personnel; paying overtime to officers and support workers; buying law enforcement equipment; establishing crime prevention programs; and covering indemnification insurance costs for police officers.

The grant money is intended to reduce crime and improve public safety.
