Fire Marshal Urges Fireworks Safety
âSparklersâ and âfountainsâ are the only types of fireworks that state law permits to be used in Connecticut, according to town Fire Marshal Bill Halstead.
Such fireworks only emit a shower of sparks. They cannot explode and they must be nonaerial, according to the fire marshal.
People must be at least 16 years old to buy and use sparklers and fountains.
Mr Halstead urges that the users of such approved fireworks exercise care and safety when handling the legal fireworks, which burn at temperatures reaching 1,100 degrees.
Also, the fire marshal warns that recent dry conditions have increased the danger of fireworks causing accidental fires.
