Paul R.         Heetmann
Paul R. Heetmann, 70, of Newtown, husband of Margaret A. Heetmann, died suddenly at his home on June 25. He was born in Oak Park, Ill., November 11, 1933, son of the late Paul and Elsa (Goldnick) Heetmann.
He grew up in Fairfield. He was a graduate of Fairfield University Class of 1955 with a BS degree, and from Bridgeport University in 1966 with an MS degree.
Until his retirement in 1993, he had been employed as a computer programmer at The Travelers in Hartford. Prior to his employment at The Travelers, he worked as a human factors engineer at Norden Division, United Aircraft in Norwalk and in Quality Control Engineering for RCA in Cherry Hills, N.J. He served in the US Army from 1956 to 1958.
A violinist by avocation, he performed with many amateur orchestral and chamber groups in the area, including the Danbury Symphony, the Danbury Community Orchestra, and the Chamber Group at Sacred Heart University, where he was concertmaster. For many years he participated in the American String Teachers Association annual string quartet workshop at Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J. He also sang with the Travelers Choral Club and the Fairfield Ambassadors of Song.
Paul was also an avid antique car buff, and was a past member of the Eastern Packard Club. For many years he served as troop administrator of Boy Scout Troop 70 in Newtown.
In addition to his wife of 37 years, he is survived by his son, James Heetmann and his wife Donna of Southbury; his daughter, Elizabeth Heetmann DeSantis and her husband Christopher DeSantis of Lewisburg, Penn.; and grandchildren Anna and Daniel Heetmann of Southbury. He is also survived by his sister, Anita Montuori and her husband John of Highland Beach, Fla.; and nephews, Michael Montuori and his wife Susan of Fairfield, and Richard Montuori of Norwalk.
Funeral services were held June 29 at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. Interment was scheduled to take place in Newtown Village Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Danbury Music Centre, 256 Main Street, Danbury CT 06810.
