2004 CT Grown Fruits & Vegetables

Brochure Now Available

The new 2004 CT Grown Pick Your Own Fruits and Vegetables brochure is ready.

The official Connecticut guide to the local pick-your-own farms will carry residents through an entire season of the freshest and the best that Connecticut farms can grow for anyone to pick themselves.

From early summer strawberries to late fall pumpkins, season after season, farmers across Connecticut offer an abundance of easy picking fields of the freshest fruits and vegetables while spending a great day on the farm. Pick-Your-Own (PYO) is a great activity for the young and old. Bring children or grandchildren and show the younger generation how the foods they eat are grown and harvested. Visiting local PYO farm also helps to preserve our local agricultural enterprises and open space.

The CT Grown Pick Your Own Fruits and Vegetables brochure lists over 60 farms across Connecticut. Each farm’s offerings are detailed, and include extra activities like hayrides, corn mazes, school programs, and festivals.

Many PYO operations also have farm stands which offer a full range of native and local produce, craft items, honey, maple syrup, jams and an assortment of other Connecticut made agricultural products. Some Pick Your Own farms have choose and cut Christmas trees, too.

To receive a PYO brochure, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope (37 cents) to PYO Brochure, CT Department of Agriculture, 165 Capitol Avenue-G8A, Hartford CT 06106.
