Summer Openings For Historic Buildings

WOODBURY — The summer schedule for two historic buildings in Woodbury has been announced by Abby Grondona, the president of Old Woodbury Historical Society.

The Hurd House, on Hollow Road, will be open each Sunday through September 29 from 2 to 4 pm. The home of the first miller in Woodbury, the house was built in 1860, making it the oldest structure in Litchfield County still on its original site. Docents will offer guided tours, and junior docents will demonstrate Colonial-era crafts and games.

The one-room schoolhouse on Main Street (opposite the entrance to Hollow Road) will be open from 2 to 4 pm on Sundays, July 14, August 11, and September 15. The schoolhouse was built in 1867 and has been restored in keeping with that era.

There is no admission charged for either building. For more information contact Ms Grondona at 203-263-2446.
