Mr Rayâs current work focuses on images in nature painted primarily on-site in the Northeast â landscapes of serene clouds, rolling, shadowed hills, or bodies of water.
Mr Ray derives energy from sunrises, from the idea of getting a new start each day. Sunrises are a common theme in many of his works.
Mr Ray retired a few years ago from Silvermine Guild of Arts, where he served as director since 1993. He taught painting and drawing at Silvermine for a number of years, and is an artist member of the New Canaan-based collective.
A graduate of Hartford Art School with additional studies at Yale School of Art, Mr Ray has also served as cultural affairs coordinator for Commission on the Arts in Bridgeport under National Endowment for the Arts.
Mr Ray has had numerous one-man, group and museum shows throughout Connecticut, New York and neighboring states. He has additionally been commissioned for corporate and private portraits.
