Guest Artist To Critique For SCAN, July 8 At Meeting House
The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown will have Peter Seltzer conducting a critique of paintings by members during its next meeting, on Wednesday, July 8, at 7:30 pm, The program will be in the lower level of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole).
It is not necessary to be a member of SCAN to attend. Admission is free.
Peter Seltzer’s paintings in oil and pastel been exhibited at numerous public venues including the Butler Institute of American Art in Ohio, where his work has appeared multiple times in their annual Mid-Year Exhibit and other group shows. The Butler has also given him a solo show featuring his paintings in pastel.
In addition, Mr Seltzer has also shown at the New Britain Museum of American Art, Noyes Museum of Art in New Jersey,, Canton Museum of Art in Ohio; and National Arts Club, National Academy of Design and the Salmagundi Club, all in Manhattan.
His work is represented in the permanent collections of the Butler Institute of American Art, New Britain Museum of American Art, Ackland Museum in North Carolina, Harvard University , and the New Haven Paint & Clay Club’s 100+ year collection.
Many in depth articles about his work and technique have appeared in American Artist Magazine, Artist’s Magazine, Pastel Journal and Connecticut Magazine. His paintings have been included in fine art books such as The Best of Pastel (Volumes 1 and 2), The Best of Sketching and Drawing, and Pure Color: The Best of Pastel.
Finally, Mr Seltzer has been honored with the designation Master Pastelist by the Pastel Society of America and has received a “by invitation only” membership from Allied Artists of America. Among his awards are four Gold and five Silver Medals in international exhibitions.
