Single Stream Recycling

Comes To Newtown

Newtowners this week received what was headlined as “Good News” in their tax bills. The town has announced that its recycling program is changing to single stream recycling as of July 1. The notice advises residents that they may now place all their recyclables in one bin or clear bag.

Recyclables include paper milk, juice, and egg cartons; glass bottles and jars; phone books and paperback books;, cardboard and paper bags; newspaper inserts and junk mail; steel, tin, and aluminum cans; office paper, folders, and greeting cards; and #1–7 plastic bottles, jugs, jars, and tubs.

Also the town is now recycling electronics, including TVs, printers, digital cameras, cellphones, computers, fax machines, VCRs, and video games at the transfer station on Ethan Allen Road.
