Fly Fishing: Art, Craft, And Passion
Fly fisherman Jim Turecek will be at the C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street, Wednesday, July 13, at 7 pm, to talk about the art and craft of fly fishing.
Mr Turecek will âleadâ a fishing safari, starting in local trout streams of Connecticut and finishing with the more exotic bonefish flats of the Caribbean. Learn about both fresh and saltwater fly fishing. He will also bring a display of necessary equipment, including prey species and the fly that works best to imitate them.
Mr Turecek is a fly fisherman and a tier with more than 40 years of experience. He has worked as an instructor, guide, lecturer, and fly fishing theoretician for more than 30 years. He has fished for and caught just about every species one can catch on a fly rod in fresh and saltwater.
Besides his intimate knowledge of the rivers and coast of New England, he has extensive experience through the Caribbean and has traveled widely in pursuit of new angling experiences. Mr Turecek is on the water a couple of hundred times a year following the fish throughout the season.
