The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will have Adele Moros painting a watercolor landscape at a meeting of SCAN on Wednesday, July 10, at 7:30 pm. This demo will take place in the lower meeting room at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole). It is not necessary to be a member of SCAN to attend. Admission is free.

Adele Moros is a multi-media artist with a background in fashion illustration. She always knew she would be an artist, she said. In her family everyone painted.

Ms Moros studied at the Phoenix School, Parsons and Silvermine, and with numerous well known painters including Daniel Greene, Barbara Goodspeed, Richard Ochs, and Larry Newquist.

In 2000 her Tiffany-style life-size painted cow auctioned for charity raised $60,000 at the New York City Cow Parade. Slides of that cow are in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC and are used in their Tiffany lectures. Since then she has designed Hearts for Danbury Hospital, and cows for Boston and New Haven. Two of those cows are now in Japan.

Ms Moros has created several outdoor pieces for Stamford. Her faux stained glass porto-potty for Imodium AD was reviewed in The Newark Star Ledger by Jim Bishoff as “a show stopper.”

Ms Moros is also a Fellow with the International Guild of Miniature Artisans. Several of her one-inch scale paintings are included in the Browning collection of the Toy and Miniature Museum of Kentucky. Her paintings both large and small are included in more than 600 public, corporate and private collections.

She enjoys teaching, and has doing so for 30 years.
