Irene M. Wise

Worked In Illinois School System For Many Years

Irene M. Wise, 77, of Oak Park, Ill., died June 20 at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Ill. Mrs Wise was born Irene M. Connor on August 14, 1928, in Chicago, to Peter J. and Irene (Freestone) Connor.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Bernard L. “Barney” Wise of Oak Park; her children Jeff and his wife, Carol, of Newtown, Bernard F. of River Forest, Ill., Donna Wise of Oak Park; her grandchildren, Kim and Katelyn Wise and Tim Perry and Alex Struve. She is also survived by her siblings, Jack Connor and his wife, Kay, Winnie Dyslin and her husband, Ed, and Bill Conner and his wife, Mal. She was a fond aunt to many.

She was raised in Chicago and graduated from St Benedict parochial and later Alvernia High School. For many years she worked in the lunchroom at Oak Park and River Forest High School, retiring in 1994. Shopping and her summers spent in the cottage in McHenry, Ill., were her favorite pastimes.

A funeral mass was held June 24 at Ascension Catholic Church in Oak Park. Interment followed in St Joseph Cemetery in River Grove.

Memorial donations can be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 910 West VanBuren Street, Chicago IL 60607.

Arrangements were by Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home, Oak Park, Ill.
