To the Editor:

On Tuesday, June 20, Newtown Bridge Club hosted their seventh annual Longest Day fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association. Bridge games were held throughout the day and evening along with concurrent Scrabble tournaments.

Local restaurateurs and stores provided complimentary food that was enjoyed by our players, who were also treated to beautiful dinner music by pianist Stan Kishner and his SJK Jazz Band.

We greatly appreciate The Newtown Bee’s wonderful coverage of our Longest Day fundraiser.

Thank you to each of our generous sponsors: Bagel Delight, Barnwood Grill, Big Y, Blue Colony Diner, Caraluzzi’s, Dunkin’, Farmhouse Restaurant, Frank Pepe Pizzeria in Danbury, Market Place, Quattro Osteria, Sal e Pepe, Stop & Shop and Tambascio’s Italian Grill. You are the best!

In addition to the in-person bridge on June 20, we hosted online Longest Day bridge games on BBO on Saturday, June 24, and Sunday, June 25. With the bridge and Scrabble entry fees, plus donations from players, other club members, family and friends, we were able to raise over $14,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association.

The association supports those living with dementia and their caregivers, and it advances research which hopefully will find a prevention and/or a cure for this insidious disease.

Newtown Bridge Club holds three ACBL-sanctioned duplicate bridge games every week at Edmond Town Hall: Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 12:30 pm. In addition, bridge lessons are offered on a regular basis for players of all levels. For more information about the bridge club, please contact Club Manager Susan Fronapfel at 203-733-8525 or visit newtownbridge.org.

Sincerely,

Linda Dale Mulholland
