The Art Of Caring

To the Editor:

On June 8, Boehringer Ingelheim rolled out its expansive red carpet to our agency, its future neighbor, and to every guest at Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western CT’s 2012 Art of Caring.

Paul Fonteyne, Boehringer’s president and CEO, graciously welcomed guests on the reception line while they sipped Champagne and had photos taken on the red carpet with RHHC and Art of Caring Chairman George Mulvaney. These genial hosts greeted over 500 guests, a record crowd who made the night an overwhelming success, raising more than ever for RHHC and creating an exciting buzz about our dreams to build a hospice residence nearby.

The evening was a celebration of the 27-year partnership between Boehringer Ingelheim as host of Art of Caring and the enduring generosity of our greater community. Their support is vital for families who depend on Regional Hospice and Home Care and empowers our vision of a fully-staffed hospice residence with private family suites, children’s activities, and bereavement support under the same roof.

We are deeply grateful to Paul Fonteyne and the many volunteers at Boehringer Ingelheim. Their compassion, hospitality, and dedication drive the event and touch the lives of patients and families.

The artists who volunteer months of their time and expertise serving on the Art Committee with Chairperson Laura McCormick are the heart and soul of the event. They bring a unique character to Art of Caring — their vision and reputations draw throngs of artists and hundreds of guests each year.

Thank you to all the generous sponsors, advertisers, artists, musicians, restaurants, supporters and guests whose kindness was palpable throughout the evening. Even the brief misting from Mother Nature could not dampen the hearts and spirits of our grateful board of directors, staff, and volunteers!
