Lottery Open To Purchase Tickets To Hear The Dalai Lama In Danbury
DANBURY â His Holiness the Dalai Lama will visit Western Connecticut State University this fall for public talks on Thursday, October 18 (âThe Art of Compassionâ), and Friday, October 19 (âAdvice for Daily Lifeâ). The talks will be in the Feldman Arena of the OâNeill Center on the WCSU Westside campus, 43 Lake Avenue Extension.
Ticket prices will range from $20 to $200, based on proximity to the stage. To ensure a fair distribution of tickets, tickets are being sold by random draw. There are no online ticket sales for this event.
Ticket requests began being accepted Monday, June 25, at www.wcsu.edu/tickets.
Tickets will be sold using the following format: A request for tickets must be submitted via the online form after 10 am on Monday. Names will be drawn at random and posted on www.wcsu.edu/tickets. Once a name has been posted, tickets must be purchased by Sunday, July 15.
When the guest contacts the WCSU Box Office within the allotted time period, box office staff will verify that the guest has received an invitation to purchase tickets. Upon verification, the guest will have the opportunity to purchase a maximum of two tickets.
For those who do not purchase tickets, the Dalai Lamaâs appearances will be simulcast to a remote location to be announced.
The Dalai Lamaâs visit to WCSU was planned in cooperation with Do Ngak Kunphen Ling (DNKL), Tibetan Buddhist Center for Universal Peace in Redding. DNKL is under the guidance of spiritual director Gyumed Khensur Rinpoche Lobsang Jampa and the spiritual tradition of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
The center provides Tibetan Buddhist teachings to create a more peaceful world and to motivate individuals to provide greater service to all beings. DNKL offers classes both online and at the center, ranging from training in Buddhist moral discipline, meditative concentration, and wisdom.
His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama does not charge a speaking engagement fee and no aspect of His Holinessâs visit is being used to profit financially. Any funds raised through sponsorships and ticket sales will be used only to cover expenses for the events benefiting humanity. Should there be any surplus funds from His Holinessâs events, that surplus will be disbursed to charitable organizations under the advisement of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
