In addition, Bob Schmidt received the Loyal Shepherd Award, which is granted by the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation to recognize individuals who have provided extraordinary service to the community.

Kevin Corey received the Ambassador of Sight Award, an honor given by The Low Vision Center of Connecticut, which teaches the visually impaired new ways to use their remaining eyesight.

Newtown Lions Club Secretary Doug Body received The Knight of the Blind Award granted by the Connecticut Lions Eye Research Foundation for outstanding service to the Newtown Club and the State of Connecticut.

Lions Club President Ray Keegan received the Melvin Jones Award, named for the founder of the Lions Club International. It is the highest form of recognition conferred by the Lions Club International Foundation.
