*If you were among the thousands holding on to tickets for the July 7 VAN HALEN show at Mohegan Sun Arena and haven’t yet received an automatic refund to your credit or debit card (or sought a refund at the point of purchase), let me remind you one more time that that show has been cancelled.

Don’t head to Uncasville next weekend planning to see Eddie VH and the boys. The band postponed over 30 upcoming summer tour dates a few weeks ago, without explanation, disappointing fans all over North America, including those in this neck of the woods. (Mohegan Sun’s website this week has a postponed banner across the photo of the band but the original announcement was that the Connecticut show, as well as a string of others, was cancelled. The fact that refunds are available does not bode well for a rescheduled date any time soon.)

Country singer CHRIS CAGLE is performing that night in Mohegan Sun’s Wolf Den.

Of course, another show that’s happening that night is the SARAH McLACHLAN concert over at The MGM Grand at Foxwoods. My co-editor and fellow music fan John Voket spoke with McLachlan last week. See elsewhere in this week’s Enjoy section, or find the full preview of that show online at NewtownBee.com, under the Features tab.

*Speaking of cancellations, a July 21 DENNIS DeYOUNG show at The Klein in Bridgeport has been cancelled. As of Tuesday morning (June 26), however, “Dennis DeYoung: The Music of Styx,” featuring DeYoung and his six member band, was still on the boards for July 28 at Mohegan Sun’s Wolf Den.

*The Comcast Theatre announced on Monday that the July 13 JASON ALDEAN concert is officially sold out, making the superstar country singer the first country performer in the 24,000-seat theater’s 17-year history to sell out three weeks in advance of a show.

Of course if you still really want to see Aldean and can afford to pay big bucks for this, LiveNation has an answer: Premium Box Seats. These tickets are $178 each ($204 with fees), and provide access to the theater’s VIP Club, wait staff service and a promised “great view of the stage.” These tickets are sold in pairs.

They can be purchased online or by calling 203-269-8721 extension 214.

*Toad’s Place will be hosting a special event July 6, when 14 bands compete to win a spot at the Mayhem Festival when it rolls into Hartford in August.

THE AUTUMN, DEMONS PAST, DRUTHERS, EXTINCTION LEVEL EVENT, IMPACT, INDECENT EXPOSURE, INSANO VISION, KALI MA, LIGHTSBANE, MANIAC, MULTIPLE STAB WOUNDS, NASTY DISASTER, REQUIEM FOR A DREAMER and TORMENT THE DREAMER will be performing an all ages show in New Haven. Showtime is 7:15, just 15 minutes after doors will be opening that night.

Tickets are $12 each, and the event will be hosted across two stages. Visit ToadsPlace.com for details.

Until next week, I’ll be seeing you… on the road.

Questions and comments should be sent to Shannon Hicks c/o The Newtown Bee, 5 Church Hill Road, Newtown CT 06470, or shannon@thebee.com, or call the office at 426-3141. Shows listed at clubs are for ages 21 and over unless specified.
