Alexander William Zachos
Alexander William Zachos
Alexander William âChuckâ Zachos, 25, of Newtown, died June 22, after a lifelong battle with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a battle he fought hard and valiantly. He was born in Mount Kisco, N.Y., on September 21, 1986, a son of Ann (LaPadura) and John Zachos.
It was Alexâs determination and strong will that helped him to overcome many a setback. It was the courage he displayed with a wonderful smile that many would tell you had touched and changed their lives.
Alex was known for his love of meteorology and was himself an amateur meteorologist. He was an avid movie buff and loved playing video games. He was a 2006 graduate of Newtown High School, where he had many, many terrific friends and faculty who cared for him.
In addition to his parents, Alex is survived by his sister Abigail. He also leaves behind his paternal grandmother, Kazuko Zachos; and his maternal grandparents, John and Patricia LaPadura. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him so dearly.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church on June 26. Interment followed in Newtown Village Cemetery.
The family asks that you consider making donations in Alexâs memory to the Muscular Dystrophy Association at www.mda.org, or to the Hospital for Special Care, 2150 Corbin Avenue, New Britain CT 06053.
