Newtown Girls Win Big

Sami Arnold (left), Emma Delia (second from left), Sammie Gilbert (center), Bailey Solomons (second from right) and Emma Wolfman (right), all of Newtown, recently competed in the Level 4 Sectional State Championships held in Old Saybrook on June 9 and 10. All five girls performed well in all four events – vault, floor exercise, balance beam and uneven parallel bars. Wolfman and Gilbert captured a 9.2 and a 9.175, respectively, in the floor exercises as Arnold scored a 9.0 with a strong performance on vault. Solomons scored an 8.7 on her balance beam routine while Emma Delia brought in an 8.8 on her parallel bar routine. These performances helped capture the first Level 4 Sectional State Championship for their gym, Gymnastics Revolution in Bethel, where all five girls are in their first competitive season.
