Newtown Firefighters Aid Brookfield

Newtown Hook & Ladder firefighters were among the many firefighters who responded to the scene of a fire at 304 Federal Road in Brookfield on the night of Tuesday, June 26.

Mike McCarthy, who is first assistant fire chief at Hook & Ladder, said that a wooden office building had caught fire.

Hook & Ladder firefighters extended their aerial ladder to the rear roof of the building and cut some inspection holes in the roof to check on whether fire had spread to the attic, but it had not, he said.

Six Hook & Ladder firefighters responded to the call at about 8:15 pm, he said. Hawleyville firefighters stood by the Brookfield firehouse on Pocono Road.
